HERE TO HELP

Maybe you know something needs to change. Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to cope. Or perhaps you can’t quite explain what feels wrong.

You don’t need to know where to begin. We can start where you are.

WELCOME…

Hello, I’m Caroline Hewitt, the counsellor behind Centred Counselling. I work with people across the UK, offering counselling by video, phone or email, so we can work together wherever you are. How we work together will be individual to you, but at the heart of my approach is creating a space where you can feel listened to with care and curiosity. You are welcome to arrive just as you are, without judgement or expectation that you need to be any different.

I will work alongside you, guided by what feels important to you. When things are difficult or overwhelming, we can take time to make sense of what has brought you here and next steps.

My hope is that, through understanding, you can find a little more space to connect with yourself and what you need. That might mean change or acceptance, greater self-understanding, practical strategies and tools that help, or simply feeling less alone with what you are carrying.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

These are the principles that guide the way I work at Centred Counselling.

We often seek out counselling because we want something to be different. But understanding matters. Making sense of what we feel and how we respond, can create more space for compassion, choice and possibility.

The relationship between counsellor and client is one of the most important aspects of therapy. Feeling listened to, accepted and understood provides a foundation for greater understanding of yourself and what you need.

Being human means finding ways to adapt to the experiences life brings. The responses that develop along the way often make sense when understood in context, and recognising the purpose they may have served can bring greater self-compassion and less judgement.

Growth continues throughout our lives. Our experiences shape us, our understanding can deepen and change, and there is always more to learn about ourselves, each other and the world around us.

Life can leave us feeling that we need to hide parts of who we are, make ourselves smaller or adapt in order to be accepted. In our work together, I aim to offer a space where you don’t need to do that — where you are welcome as you are.

I believe therapy should move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. There is no single “right” way and, together, we can find a way of working that respects your experiences, your choices and what matters to you.
