ABOUT ME
I offer confidential, non-judgemental counselling and aim to work alongside you, guided by what feels important to you. I will listen, explore and reflect with you as we make sense of whatever has brought you to counselling. I understand that emotions can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming, and we can take things at a pace that feels safe and right for you. There is no expectation to know where to begin, or where you need to end up.

Caroline Hewitt
My work is grounded in person-centred values, while drawing on psychodynamic understanding and trauma-informed practice where helpful.
I offer a warm, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace
Free consultation
I offer a free 30 minute consultation so we can get to know one another and see if working together feels right to you.
Finding the right counsellor
Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the process. Every counsellor brings something different to the therapeutic relationship, and it’s important that you find someone you feel comfortable talking to. The relationship we build together is one of the most important parts of therapy, which is why I offer a free 30 minute consultation before we begin. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know one another, for you to ask any questions you may have, and to discover, without pressure or obligation, whether working together feels right for you.
A place to be yourself
One of my hopes is that therapy can become a place where you feel increasingly able to be yourself, whatever that looks like for you. There is no expectation to present yourself in a particular way, have the right words, or know what you want from counselling before we begin.
My role is to meet you with care and curiosity and to spend time understanding what is happening for you. Together, we can explore whatever feels important, at a pace and in a direction that feels right for you.
When words are difficult
I recognise that not everything we experience can immediately be put into words. Sometimes emotions are felt before they can be understood. Sometimes the body responds before the mind has made sense of what is happening. Sometimes there are no words at all.
I don’t expect people to arrive with a clear story or the “right” words before therapy can begin. My role is to listen with care and curiosity, creating a space where understanding can gradually emerge, whether through conversation, silence, reflection or simply being alongside you.
Understanding together
As human beings, it’s natural to develop ways of responding to the experiences and circumstances life brings. These responses often make sense when understood in context, and recognising the purpose they may have served can bring greater self-compassion and less judgement.
Therapy offers space to explore these patterns with care and curiosity, considering what is still helpful, what may no longer be needed, and what other possibilities might now be available.
Moving forward
Therapy isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about creating the space to understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have become hidden, and move forward with greater freedom, compassion and choice.
You don’t need everything figured out for counselling to begin
